What this page covers

This page is about My Storage’s website: what it collects while you use it and what happens to that. It is not the rental agreement. If you rent a unit, the agreement you sign is a separate document and it governs your unit, your account and your things.

What you tell us, and when

There is one form on this site. Nothing on any other page collects anything about you.

When you send the reservation form, we receive what you typed into it:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The unit size you asked about, if you picked one
  • The date you said you want it, if you gave one
  • Anything you wrote in the message box

The size, the date and the message are optional. The rest is how we get back to you.

What we do with it

Three things happen when you send that form, and nothing else does:

  • What you sent is emailed to us, so we can call you back.
  • You are emailed a copy, with a reference code you can read down the phone.
  • It is stored so we can see it in our own console and work through it.

We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anybody for advertising. It exists so somebody can ring you about a storage unit.

What the website records by itself

One page on this site loads the rental system our storage software company, Storable, runs: the page where you rent a unit online. Everything that happens in it happens with them: choosing the unit, the insurance decision, proving who you are, the payment and signing the lease. What you type into it goes to them, under their own privacy terms, and it may leave things in your browser so that a rental you have half finished is still there when you come back. No other page on this site loads it, and nothing on this site sends them anything about you unless you use it.

We count what people do on this website: how many tapped the phone number, opened the reservation form, or looked up a unit size. It tells us which pages are worth keeping. Those counts are kept on our own server and they hold no name, no email address, no internet address and nothing else that could be traced back to you or joined up into a profile. We genuinely cannot tell one visitor from another in them, and that is the trade we chose.

Your internet address is used for one thing: the reservation form accepts 6 sends every 15 minutes from one connection, so a machine cannot flood our inbox. That counter expires on its own and is not attached to your reservation.

We set one cookie, and only after you send the form: it carries your confirmation so that page can greet you by name without putting your details in the address bar for anyone behind you to read. It lasts about 10 minutes and your browser cannot read it. We set no advertising cookie and no analytics cookie, so there is no cookie banner to click through.

Our web host and our email provider necessarily handle what passes through them: a request has to arrive somewhere and an email has to be delivered by somebody. They act for us and for nobody else.

How long we keep it

A reservation is kept while we are dealing with it and afterwards as our record of it, in the same way a business keeps a note of who called. If you would rather we did not keep yours, tell us and ask for it to be taken out. A person will do it by hand.

Children

This site is for people renting storage. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from one.

Changes to this page

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no archive of previous versions.
